Middletown, Conn., June 26, 2019: The National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Consortium (NNPRFTC or “the Consortium”), an accrediting, advocacy, education and membership organization for the Nurse Practitioner postgraduate residency and fellowship training movement, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Executive Director, Kerry Bamrick, effective September 1, 2019.
This appointment comes following the upcoming retirement of predecessor Candice Rettie, PhD, who helped to develop and advance the existing accreditation program as well as the new membership program established in January of this year. Her leadership has played an integral role in building a stronger community amongst new nurse practitioners and the practices they will join as primary care providers and specialist NPs, and has fostered the growth of the NNPRFTC into the nationally respected organization it is today.
Dr. Margaret Flinter, Chairperson of NNPRFTC and Senior Vice President and Clinical Director of NNPRFTC’s founding corporation, Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), noted that “Bamrick’s appointment is only natural for the future of the accrediting body as she has been deeply rooted in the fabric of the Consortium since its inception. She has been directly involved in the creation and forward momentum of the organization, helping to transition it from an informal group of stakeholders to its own 501(c)3.”
CHC President and CEO Mark Masselli stated, “Kerry is a recognized leader in the area of postgraduate Nurse Practitioner (NP) residency training. Her experience in managing our remotely-hosted NP Residency programs throughout the country along with her involvement as Co-Principal Investigator for the Health Resource & Services Administration’s (HRSA) National Cooperative Agreement (NCA) on Clinical Workforce Development focused on training the next generation will be extremely beneficial in taking NNPRFTC to the next level.”
Bamrick received her undergraduate degree from Merrimack College and master’s degree in Business Administration from Western New England College. She also completed Clinical Microsystems training at the Dartmouth Institute and is a certified quality improvement coach as well as a board member of the Connecticut Institute for Clinical and Transitional Science (CICATS) IRB Administrators.
